Soligenix is a New Jersey company developing HyBryte, a synthetic hypericin ointment activated by visible light, for early-stage cutaneous T-cell lymphoma, tested in the phase 3 FLASH trials.
Soligenix, based in Princeton and listed on Nasdaq, develops treatments for rare diseases and biodefence. Its lead cancer programme is HyBryte (synthetic hypericin), a photosensitiser applied to skin lesions and activated with visible rather than ultraviolet light, for early-stage mycosis fungoides, the commonest form of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma; the FLASH phase 3 trial met its primary endpoint in 2020 and a confirmatory trial, FLASH2, followed at the FDA's request. It appears on OnCo as a lead sponsor of phase 3 cancer trials on ClinicalTrials.gov.
HyBryte is an ointment containing synthetic hypericin, the active pigment of St John's wort. Rubbed on patches of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma and switched on with ordinary visible light, it kills the lymphoma cells in the skin without ultraviolet light.
